The Alberta government has delayed funding to the Alberta Renewable Energy Test Site near Pincher Creek to the dismay of Canada's renewable energy community. The site now languishes, although the other funding partner, NRCan, remains willing to fulfil its share of the annual budget. CanWEA has lobbied the government, urging for continued funding for the test site.
