Canary Island big plans

Canary Island utility UNELCO (Union Electrica de Canarias) announced last month that it plans to invest ESP 1685 million in wind power projects on the islands between now and the year 2001. Most of the projects will be carried out in co-operation with the regional Canary Islands government. UNELCO, together with Desarrollos Eolicos of the Abengoa conglomerate and a local company Aerogeneradores Canarios Sociedad Anonima (ACSA), are the three main developers in the Canaries.
