Casares inauguration in Andalusia

The recent inauguration of the 19.8 MW Casares wind plant in the province of Malaga has brought total installed wind capacity in Andalusia to 146 MW. The ESP 2901 (EUR 17.4 million) plant consists of 30, 660 kW Gamesa turbines, which are expected to turn out 52,000 MWh annually. The developer, Explotaciones Eólicas Sierra de Utrera, is an equal-share conglomerate of four companies. The partner with most wind industry know-how is Corporación Eólica SA, which already has 75 MW running in Castille and León, plus an extensive strategic wind plan for Castilla la Mancha and applications to develop wind plant in Catalonia. Urbaser, an arm of Spain's largest construction firm, Dragados, contributed civil engineering expertise. Financing and property development expertise were provided by Iberinversiones and Inmobiliaria Jaser SA, respectively.
