A contract to supply turbines for what will be the largest wind station in the east German land of Brandenburg has gone to Südwind Energiesysteme of Berlin. Installation of 20, S-46 600 kW machines with a hub height 74 m will be complete by March, says Südwind, with 16 machines sited in the parish of Willmersdorf and four in the parish of Tempelfelde in the rural district of Bernim, north east of Berlin. The location is a "solid inland site," says the company, with average wind speeds of 6.1 m/s at hub height. The wind station will generate at least 21 million kWh a year, according to Südwind. The project developer is proVento of Kaiseresch. The DEM 32 million finance for the project was raised by a federal-wide solicitation for private investment.
