Japanese wind power consultancy Sea Sky Energy Corporation, based in Tokyo, has teamed up with Danish wind power consulting firm SRA to buy used turbines from Europe and export them to Japan. Sea Sky's Onyanagi Kuroda says they plan to focus on acquiring Vestas machines in the 150-750 kW range which are being replaced by bigger turbines in Denmark and other European countries. Two used 750 kW Vestas turbines in Germany have already been bought. After being shipped to Estonia for repair and maintenance, they will be exported to Japan next year where Sea Sky plans to either resell them at around half the price of an equivalent new machine or use them in its own small wind projects.
