A further 2000 households will also be served by wind energy in the Netherlands when a project started this month is complete. This time, though, just four units will do the job. The 1 MW NedWind 50 has been chosen for a project near Moerdijk in the west of the Netherlands by development company Windfarmers, a mix of private people and business interests. Four of the machines will be placed along the Hollands Diep waterway on an industrial site known as Eco-park Moerdijk and generate 4.3 million kWh a year. As a neighbour the wind plant will have Shell Chemie, the largest chemical site in the Netherlands.
