Wind power forms part of the talks at the Eurolac 2000 conference in Cartagena, Colombia, June 18-20 that will discuss energy efficiency in the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean. Talks will focus on renewable power, energy efficiency and legislation and feature financing possibilities and investment opportunities. A case study of a wind power project in Costa Rica will be presented and other talks include rural electrification options throughout the region. The Latin American Energy Association (Olade) is organising the conference, which will feature presentations by the public and private sectors and national and multilateral financing organisations. Manufacturers will showcase new equipment at the event. The percentage of Latin American populations without electric power is typically around 30%.
