Oil company launches tender for wind projects

Oil company Petrobras, which in the power sector concentrates activities on stakes in natural gas and petcoke fired projects, is also developing wind projects. Its studies centre, Cenpes, was to launch an international tender last month for wind turbines for a 3 MW facility, says Cenpes research director Fernando Baratelli. The turbines are slated for two Petrobras locations: the Macaé refinery in Rio de Janeiro state and the other as yet undecided. The wind output would be for Petrobras' own consumption, he adds.
