Justice by posse
1 January 1994
It's justice by posse on wind farms in the Wild West. Over the last several months, theft has cost the family-owned Jess Ranch and Altamont Energy Company $30,000 in wind turbine parts -- circuit breakers and contact switches. So owners and friends have been lying in wait with shotguns for the thieves. One night they heard voices and gave chase. Joe Jess Jr, a one time Livermore Rodeo hand, even had to fire a shot in the air at one point -- and caught one of the thieves with a lasso. After the ambush, two people were arrested and handed over to sheriffs.
