Enercon has so far installed 20 E66 1.5 MW turbines in Germany and is producing them at a rate of about one machine a week, reported company boss Aloys Wobben at the Husum Wind trade fair last month. But he also expressed doubts about the size of the megawatt market overseas. "The 1.5 MW could be too big for the foreign market," he admitted. For this reason Enercon is developing an 850 kW machine, available towards the end 1998. "The aim is to have a complete family of turbines on offer," Wobben declared.
