NUON to add more wind capacity in Holland and Germany
1 September 2001
Dutch utility NUON hopes to have added at least 100 MW of new wind capacity to its portfolio by the end of the year. The utility is constructing five new wind farms. Only one, however, is in the Netherlands -- a 13.2 MW project of 20 Vestas 660 kW turbines near Amsterdam. The remaining four are in Germany, including one 40 MW plant at Karlstadt near Frankfurt. As with NUON's 6 MW Peckelsheim wind farm of Lagerwey turbines close to the Dutch-German border, the electricity will be brought back to the Netherlands and sold by NUON as "natuurstroom" (natural energy).
