Hot air in the pump house
1 July 2004
As if two days of hot air from parliamentarians in the plenary sessions of the Bonn event were not enough, a day long International Parliamentary Forum was held in the historic waterworks building next door. Some 350 government ministers and members of parliaments from all over the world adopted a resolution calling for the international conference on renewables to become a regular event. The conference and the International Parliamentary Forum should be held at regular intervals to encourage closer co-operation between countries -- particularly on technology transfer -- and to enable them to share experiences of the best policy strategies. The members of parliament also urged governments to set renewables targets and to stop expansion of nuclear power.
