French cement company Lafarge Ciments has ordered six Gamesa 2 MW wind turbines to supply power directly to its factory in Tetouan, northern Morocco. Gamesa will only install and commission the plant next year, as well as operate and maintain it to 2012. No financial details of the transaction were disclosed. Back in March, Lafarge Maroc added five Gamesa 2 MW turbines to the 10.2 MW station at the Tetouan factory, capitalising on legislation that increased the size limit on plant autonomous producers may operate from 10 MW to 50 MW (Windpower Monthly, March 2008), Gamesa says it has now entered into agreements to install more than 232 MW of wind turbine capacity in Morocco.
