Vestas has confirmed a 1.14GW order to supply turbines for an offshore wind farm currently being developed in Poland.
The Danish turbine form was previously named as the supplier, and has now confirmed it will send 76 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines to the 1.14GW Baltic Power project in Poland’s Baltic Sea.
Baltic Power is located 23 km from shore off Łeba and Choczewo in northern Poland. The wind farm is jointly owned by Polish utility Orlen, which owns 51% of the project, and Canadian developer Northland power.
The pair recently announced a financing package worth C$5.2 billion (US$3.8 billion), after securing a 25-year contract for difference at a price of PLN 319.60/MWh (currently worth about €88.28/MWh) indexed to the Polish zloty’s exchange rate with the euro, and to inflation from 2021 levels
Once the wind farm is completed, Vestas said it would service the supplied turbines under a 15-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement designed to ensure optimised performance of the assets.
Last week, Vestas revealed it had finalised a PLN 170.5 million (€36.6 million) deal to buy bankrupt Polish offshore steel foundations manufacturer ST3.
