Danish renewable energy investor Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is teaming up with compatriot energy and infrastructure group Andel to target two upcoming offshore wind tenders in Denmark.
The pair will bid in upcoming tenders for the Hesselø and Kriegers Flak II offshore wind farms currently being organised by the Danish government. Hesselø is planned for a maritime area in the Kattegat Sea between Denmark and Sweden and is expected to be commissioned in 2029, while Danish Kriegers Flak II will be located in the Baltic Sea and is due online in 2030.
A spokesperson for CIP told Windpower Monthly Hesselø will have a capacity between 800MW-1.2GW on completion. Kriegers Flak II will be between 1.3 and 1.5GW, they added.
The expected deadline date for the Hesselø tender is in September next year, while the Kriegers Flak II will close in February 2025.
In May the Danish government and opposition parties together agreed a national plan to tender up to 14GW of offshore wind capacity over the next decade as part of the country’s approach to tackling the climate crisis, with provisions for the state to own up to 20% of some of the projects planned for the tenders.
“The partnership formed by Andel and CIP will play a central part in the build-out and delivering on the national ambitions with two of the country’s most notable companies working together on offshore wind farms placed attractively close to the Danish island of Zealand,” CIP and Andel stated.
