Brazilian oil major Petrobras has signed a memorandum of understanding with French counterpart TotalEnergies and compatriot renewables developer Casa dos Ventos to explore possible clean energy development in the South American country.
The trio will examine the business opportunities from onshore and offshore wind, as well as solar and hydrogen in Brazil.
Petrobras and TotalEnergies are already partners in oil and gas exploration and production in Brazil.
CEO Jean Paul Prates: "The extension of this partnership to the renewables area is a natural step and fits in with the strategy of both companies to advance the just energy transition.”
Petrobras this week announced plans for 23GW of offshore wind in waters off its home country and vowed to help compatriot manufacturer WEG develop its 7MW onshore wind turbine.
