Norwegian utility Statkraft has purchased the remaining 18.6% stake in its Brazilian subsidy Statkraft Energias Renováveis (SKER), making it the sole owner of the company.
It bought the remaining stake from Brazil’s third-largest pension fund Fundação dos Economiários Federais (Funcef), Statkraft said.
The Norwegian state utility has been present in Brazil since 2009 and currently boasts 450MW of installed capacity in the country from four wind farms and 14 hydroelectric power plants.
Sker is pursuing a number of new wind farms in Brazil. Among them is the 519MW Ventos de Santa Eugênia, 79.8MW Morro do Cruzeiro and 75.6MW Serra de Mangabeira wind farms, under development in the eastern state of Bahia. German manufacturer Nordex is due to supply turbines for all three projects.
