Statkraft has agreed to buy two wind projects in northern Brazil from EDP Renewables for an undisclosed sum.
Jerusalém, with capacity of up to 180MW and Boqueirao, which has a capacity of up to 80MW, are both in the northern state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The Norwegian company already operates 19 renewable plants in Brazil with 450MW of installed capacity and it has another 600MW under construction in the state of Bahia.
The new deal - which is expected to close in the coming months subject to regulatory approval - will raise its total capacity to 1.3GW.
"Brazil is an important country for the growth of the Statkraft Group, combining mergers, acquisitions and greenfield development of renewable technologies. This transaction is another important step towards continuing with our investment plan," said Fernando De Lapuerta, CEO and president of Statkraft Brasil.
