Frankfurt Airport owner inks five-year PPA with German wind developer

Frankfurt Airport could become partly powered by wind power after its owners, Fraport GA, and UK energy giant Centrica signed a power purchase agreement with wind developer PNE

Under the terms of the PPA, Fraport and Centrica will buy power from a PNE's 22MW onshore wind farm, recently commissioned in northern Germany.

"The green transition in Germany is accelerating, the focus on sustainability and the demand for renewable energy solutions continue to grow. We are very excited about this agreement with Fraport, which underscores our commitment to deliver the green services and solutions necessary for the future growth and the integration of renewable energy systems across Europe are required," Jan Gibbert, head of German Origination at Centrica Energy Marketing and Trading, said.

Under the terms of the deal, PNE will supply around 63 GWh of power to Centrica and Fraport over five years.
