Enercon announces departure of commercial head

German turbine maker Enercon has announced that its chief commercial officer Frederic Maenhaut left the country on 30 April.

Maenhuat joined Enercon as regional head of western Europe in 2020, before taking on the CCO role in April 2022, adding responsibilities for southern Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific prior to his departure.

Enercon is currently undergoing a transformation programme in the hopes of diversifying away from its historical manufacturing base in Germany, where installation volumes have slowed in recent years.

A spokesperson for the company told Windpower Monthly the changes it had implemented under this programme were already helping “provide a way out of the crisis resulting from the dramatic collapse of the German domestic market and negative trends in other EU countries”.

“Our footprint is largely where it should be, with production sites in Germany, EU countries and Asia. The company’s situation has been stabilised,” the spokesperson said.

Another Enercon CCO – Ulrich Schulze Südhoff – will now be responsible for the regions previously overseen by Maenhaut. Meanwhile, the company's chief restructuring officer Martin Prillman will handle global project management.
