Enel is continuing to mull the future of its 200MW Windpeshi wind farm in Colombia even after the government announced a deal with indigenous communities who have been blockading the project.
In a tweet, Colombia’s energy and mines ministry said on 9 May that communities in Romana and Julapa had agreed to end a months-old blockade of the wind energy project following a meeting with government officials and company representatives.
But Enel said yesterday (10 May) that the agreement only covers part of the Julapa community and that the blockade remains in place.
The energy firm said last week that it is evaluating the future of the Windpeshi project, which has suffered severe delays since construction began in 2021.
