New Jersey has opened its third offshore wind tender, in which it aims to award power deals for up to 4GW of capacity.
The US east coast state has set a deadline for bids of 23 June, and its board of public utilities has scheduled a meeting in December to make a decision on applications.
It has previously awarded 3.75GW of capacity across two rounds, though Republicans have called for a moratorium on development after whales recently washed up dead on the state’s beaches.
New Jersey aims to have a US-leading 11GW of offshore wind capacity operational by 2040.
