Tilt Renewables buys half of 1.2GW wind farm in Australia

Tilt Renewables has acquired 50% of a gigawatt-scale project in south-east Queensland, Australia.

It will now co-develop the 1.2GW Forest Wind project located between Gympie and Maryborough with fellow Australian renewables developer CleanSight.

Tilt Renewables’ executive general manager for renewable development, Anthony Yeates, said: “We believe that it is going to take projects of substantial scale to rapidly drive the

transition to renewables.”

The wind farm is planned for a site within pre-existing exotic pine plantations, which Tilt claimed means project development will largely avoid sensitive environmental areas.

It will still need further permitting approvals before construction can start.Tilt Renewables already has more than 1.7GW of renewables projects already in operation or under construction across Australia.
