Siemens Gamesa has secured a firm order to supply turbines for an unspecified 495MW wind farm in Canada, it announced in a notification to the Spanish stock exchange.
The deal – booked in the first quarter of 2023 – includes the European turbine maker supplying its SG 5.0-145 and SG 6.6-170 wind turbines and servicing them for ten years.
The wind farm is due to start commercial operations in 2024.
The order comes as a boost for Siemens Gamesa’s embattled onshore wind unit. Lengthy delays ramping up its 5.X turbine platform has been a major factor in continuing loss-making at Siemens Gamesa, which eventually led to parent company Siemens Energy taking full control of the manufacturer.
