Engie to build 200MW US wind farm to supply utility

Engie is to build the 200MW North Bend wind farm in South Dakota following the signing of a power purchase agreement to supply a local power utility.

Consisting of 71 turbines, the facility is expected to enter commercial operations in late 2023.

The Basin Electric Power Cooperative, which supplies electricity to three million clients across Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota and Wyoming, will buy all of the electricity generated by North Bend.

Engie operates or is building almost 5GW of wind, solar and battery storage capacity across the US and Canada and expanded its pipeline by 12GW in 2022.
