Mayflower appoints ex-Ørsted US offshore wind veteran as CEO

US offshore wind developer Mayflower Wind has hired Francis Slingsby as its new CEO.

Slingsby spent 11 years at Ørsted, including senior roles leading the Danish giant’s push into US offshore wind.

He replaces Michael Brown – Ocean Winds’ country manager for the US – who will serve on Mayflower’s board of directors.

Mayflower Wind is a joint venture of oil giant Shell and Ocean Winds – itself a joint venture of Portugal’s EDP Renewables and France’s Engie.

It is developing 2.4GW of offshore wind off the coast of New England in the north-east of the US.
