SeaTwirl appoints floating offshore wind veteran as CEO

Offshore wind veteran Johan Sandberg has been appointed as CEO of floating platform designer SeaTwirl.

Sandberg has worked in offshore wind, with a specific focus on floating, since 2008.

At certification body DNV, he was responsible for developing the world’s first design standard for floating offshore wind turbines, and the first guidelines for integrating offshore wind with oil and gas platforms. Since 2019 he has been Aker Offshore Wind and Aker Solutions' head of business development for floating offshore wind.

SeaTwirl is due to test its technology – a vertical-axis floating wind turbine on a rotating substructure – at a test site in Norway.

Current CEO Peter Lauris will remain in the top role until Sandberg joins.
