Norwegian energy giant Equinor and Japanese conglomerate Hitachi have entered a partnership to collaborate on electrification, renewable power generation and low-carbon initiatives worldwide.
They will initially focus on developing standardised base designs for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) and alternating current (HVAC) transmission systems to connect offshore wind farms and Equinor’s oil and gas production facilities to mainland power grids.
Hitachi has previously supplied Equinor with power solutions and technologies for several projects, including the Dogger Bank A, B and C offshore wind farm, and the Troll A oil and gas field, the world’s first HVDC power-from-shore connection.
