Danish developer European Energy has secured construction permits for an offshore wind test site 4km off the north-east coast of Denmark.
Compatriot Vestas plans to install its V236-15.0MW turbines in three of the site’s five turbine spaces.
In total, European Energy is allowed to install turbines with a combined capacity of 72MW. The remaining two turbines would be limited to a tip height of 182 metres.
European Energy is talking to local stakeholders about using the wind farm’s electricity in a power-to-x project.
Its head of offshore wind Andreas Karhula Lauridsen said: “We see great opportunities to make use of the green power from the offshore wind turbines in combination with solar power from in land to deliver Power-to-X-products in Frederikshavn.”
