French utility EDF has ordered ten sets of Siemens Gamesa’s recyclable turbine blades for its 450MW Calvados offshore wind farm.
Ten of the project’s 64 Siemens Gamesa SWT 7.0-154 turbines are due to use the new blades, in which the resin can be separated from other components at the end of the blade’s offshore life, enabling the blades to be recycled into other applications.
Calvados is due to be built at a site 10km off the Normandy coast in northern France. It is expected online in 2024.
The project is owned by EDF Renewables (42.5%) Enbridge (21.7%), CPP Investment Board (20.8%) and wpd (15%).
Siemens Gamesa has previously received orders to supply its recyclable blades at RWE’s Kaskasi wind farm in the German North Sea.
