MingYang installs its first commercial steel-concrete hybrid wind turbine towers

Chinese manufacturer MingYang Smart Energy has started installing the first commercial batches of turbines featuring its steel-concrete hybrid towers.

Its MySE 4.0-166 and MySE 4.0-173 turbines have been installed at projects in Anhui, an inland province in eastern China.

The turbines have hub heights of 163 metres and feature segmented, prefabricated and prestressed tower structures.

Other turbine manufacturers including Nordex and Siemens Gamesa already offer turbines with steel-concrete hybrid towers.
