New York governor Kathy Hochul has outlined plans to hold the state’s third offshore wind tender, through which it hopes to secure at least 2GW.
The tender is to be administered by the New York State Research and Development Authority (Nyserda).
Nyserda aims to award evaluation points for repurposing existing fossil fuel-based electricity generation infrastructure and using energy storage to enhance system reliability and support more renewable energy on the grid.
The bid deadline for the tender is 22 December.
New York aims to have 9GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035.
