Developers issue bonds to fund wind farms in Argentina and Brazil

Developers in Argentina and Brazil have issued bonds this week to finance the construction of new wind farms.

Casa dos Ventos completed its first issuance of green bonds to raise BRL 430 million ($86 million) that will help finance the 534MW expansion of its Rio do Vento wind complex in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms. Currently under construction, it will enter operations next year.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s PCR Energy raised $77.5 million in green bonds to finance the construction of its Mataco III and Vivoratá wind farms in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina with a combined installed capacity of 85MW. They are expected to begin commercial operations in 2023.
