Ørsted signs labour deal for US offshore wind

Ørsted has signed a landmark agreement with North America’s Building Trade Unions (NABTU) to employ a unionised workforce in its offshore wind farms in the US.

The national offshore wind agreement includes diversity targets and monitoring and local training programs to help skilled workers from the traditional energy sector transition into the offshore wind sector.

NABTU expects offshore wind development to create around 80,000 direct jobs in the US and tens of thousands of indirect jobs in manufacturing, logistics and clean energy technology.

Ørsted operates the first offshore wind farm in the US and has the largest portfolio of offshore wind in the country with six projects in development totalling 5GW.
