OX2 has filed a Natura 2000 permit application for a 1.7GW offshore wind farm in the Kattegat. Planned for a site 25km off Falkenberg and Varberg, Halland County, Galatea-Galene would comprise up to 101 turbines, spread over two areas. Its annual output could amount to 6-7TWh.

The permit application includes an environmental impact assessment and will be processed by the County Administrative Board of Halland.

The project forms part of OX2's 11.1GW Swedish development portfolio. Hillevi Priscar, the developer's country manager for Sweden, said: “The [Galatea-Galene] wind farm would supply a large amount of new Swedish renewable electricity to southern Sweden, where the need is extensive.”
