AES Brasil has awarded Nordex Group a 313.5MW order to supply 55 of its N163/5.X turbines for the Cajuína wind farm in the north-eastern state of Rio Grande do Norte.

Nordex will also service the turbines for an initial five years, though developer AES Brasil has an option to extend this term to up to 20 years.

The turbines from the Delta4000 series are scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2022. They will be supplied in a project-specific operating mode of 5.7MW.

Nordex will produce the turbines, rotor blades and 120m-high concrete towers in Brazil.

The AES Brasil deal is one of several large turbine orders Nordex has announced in June. This month, it has also announced a 199.5MW order for N163/5.X turbines in Finland, and a 76.8MW order for N155/4.8 turbines in Spain, according Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.

The OEM focuses on onshore turbines in the 4-5.XMW class, and tailors them to the market requirements of countries with limited space and regions with limited grid capacity.

Nordex has installed more than 33GW of wind energy capacity in more than 40 markets, generating revenues of €4.6 billion in 2020. It has manufacturing facilities in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the US, India and Mexico.
