Firefighters are working with developer NextEra Energy to find out why a GE turbine at a newly completed wind farm in Wyoming, US, caught fire.

The project was commissioned in June and features two different GE Renewable Energy turbines – the GE2.3-116 and GE2.5-127. It is unclear which turbine model caught fire.
Falling debris burnt an area of grass of around 2km2, according the assistant local fire chief, Karl Zunker.
No one was injured in the fire, according to NextEra.
Developer NextEra and contractor Blattner Energy created gaps in vegetation and made a track road wider to help contain any possible grass fires, Zunker added.
The volunteer fire department is working with the developer to establish the cause of the fire.
NextEra stated: "The fire was out quickly, and no one was injured. Turbine fires are rare. We are currently investigating the cause of this incident.”
GE declined to comment.
