Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has appointed Marc Becker as the new CEO of its offshore business as the overhaul of the company's senior management team continues.
Becker replaces Andreas Nauen, who was promoted to company CEO in June.
He had previously served as the managing director for Germany and head of offshore sales and projects at SGRE, before leaving the company in early 2020.
Becker had also been chief operating officer of Siemens Wind Power between 2014 and 2017.
He will start his new role on 1 February next year.
Pierre Bauer will continue as interim offshore CEO until then.
Siemens Gamesa stated that during his time as Siemens Wind Power COO, Becker helped build the company’s leading position in the then-growing offshore wind segment.
CEO Nauen said: “I am delighted to bring Marc back to the company to lead offshore. He has an outstanding track record in offshore wind energy and has the experience, expertise and industry network to lead our future growth in this critical area.”
Siemens Gamesa has overhauled its senior management team in the second half of the 2020 calendar year, following the abrupt departure of CEO Markus Tacke in June.
Nauen is now CEO. Former Nordex CEO and MHI Vestas co-CEO Lars Bondo Krogsgaard is Siemens Gamesa’s onshore CEO. Juan Gutierrez took over as service CEO in August. Beatriz Puente will start as chief financial officer on 1 December.
Becker said: “Siemens Gamesa is the undisputed leader in offshore wind, and I’m looking forward to rejoining the company and working to extend that leadership.”
