Worker dies in fall at US wind farm

A 39-year-old man fell to his death while working uptower on a turbine at the Langford wind project in Texas

The Clearway Energy Group has confirmed the death of a subcontractor at its 100MW Langford wind farm.

Police at the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office were called to reports of an accidental fall on Tuesday, September 22 and were summoned to the 11000 block of Allen Road in Christoval, Texas.

Officers said the victim was identified as 39-year-old Aaron Scott Johnson of Big Spring, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the incident remains under investigation by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office, and the next of kin have been notified.

They found no evidence of foul play or criminal activity.

In a statement, a Clearway spokesperson said: “The family of the deceased has been notified. Our focus is now on the well-being of the family, colleagues, and all those affected by this tragedy. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is on site and is conducting and an investigation."
