SGRE said its "Flex" concept means its direct drive turbine with a 193-metre rotor is now able to deliver 11MW of capacity "under specific site conditions", up from the previously available 10MW.
"Digitalisation allows us to increase the capacity of our current largest machine to 11 MW, boosting its annual energy production, while keeping the levelised cost of energy down," said SGRE offshore wind CEO Andreas Nauen.
The 10MW model was launched in January 2019, following a spate of similar announcements from sector rivals.
SGRE's new turbine remains smaller than the current market leader, GE Renewable Energy's 12MW Haliade-X turbine, but has a much larger track record.
The manufacturer said it expects to install the 1,000th turbine of its direct drive technology, which started with the 6MW platform, shortly.
