This is the 100th turbine being installed at Ørsted’s 1,218MW Hornsea Project One offshore wind project in the North Sea.

It was installed in early July and is just one of the 174 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines to be installed at the site, 120km off England’s east coast.

In a sign of the offshore wind industry’s progress over the past six years, this development will have one less turbine than the long-time largest offshore wind project, the 630MW London Array, but will provide almost double the capacity.

Hornsea Project One is also almost double the size of Ørsted’s 659MW Walney Extension project completed in 2018 and currently the world’s largest offshore wind site.
