The N155/4.5 is the fourth turbine in the manufacturer’s Delta4000 series, and has a power rating of 4.5MW and rotor diameter of 155 metres.
Nordex added that the N155/4.5 is aimed at growth markets with medium wind conditions and for sites "without strict requirements on maximum noise levels or high levels of effective turbulence intensity".
Target markets include "much of the United States, Latin America, South Africa and south-east Asia", the manufacturer added.
The turbine features a longer glass fibre rotor than its predecessors and will initially be available with three different tower configurations: a 108-metre steel tower, a 120-metre concrete tower and a 164-metre hybrid tower.
The new model uses the same doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) as previous Delta4000 turbines.
Production is due to start in late 2020.
José Luis Blanco, CEO of the Nordex Group, said: "This product is a logical extension of the Nordex Group’s product strategy to leverage common components while creating optimised derivatives to achieve the lowest cost of energy for specific markets.
"The standard technical platform of the Delta4000 series enables us to continuously develop highly efficient solutions for a wide range of wind regimes and adapting the products to different, very particular market requirements."
Nordex launched the N155/4.5 at the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA’s) Windpower 2019 conference in Houston, Texas
