The manufacturer will provide 14 units of its 3.6M114 model for Total Eren’s 50.4MW Malaspina wind farm.

It is set to start installing the site near Argentina’s central-east coast — a location known for its high wind speeds — in the first half of 2019, Senvion stated.

The latest order is in addition to a previous agreement for Senvion to provide 27 units of the 3.6M114 model for Total Eren’s Vientos Los Hércules site in Santa Cruz province, about 170 kilometres southwest of Malaspina.

It had secured the contract with Eren for Vientos Los Hércules prior to oil and gas giant Total’s acquisition of a 23% stake in the French renewable developer in September 2017.

Malaspina and Vientos Los Hércules are Total Eren’s only wind farms in Argentina.

It currently has more than 950MW of wind, solar and hydroelectric assets in operation or under construction worldwide, but aims to increase this total to 3GW by 2022.

Senvion stated that it is "currently agreeing on final terms of further agreements in South America". The company added that it was "committed to further expanding" its office in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires due to its "recent strong successes".

Since entering the Argentine market in 2016, Senvion has secured turbine purchase agreements with a combined capacity of 171.6MW, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.
