It will supply 191 units of its AW125 model for utility-developer Enel Green Power’s Lagoa dos Ventos project in the northern state of Piaui.

The turbines will have output ratings of 3MW or 3.15MW and will be installed on 120-metre concrete towers produced at Nordex’s production plant in Piaui.

Nordex will begin building the site in October 2019, and service the turbines for at least two years, it stated.

In April, Nordex opened a production plant in Piaui, where the manufacturer is also building concrete towers for the 65 turbines it is supplying for the 195MW Lagoa do Barro complex.

The manufacturer stated producing locally at its own plant in the northern state would "lower costs and minimise the environmental footprint".

Its latest order brings the total capacity installed and under construction by Nordex in Brazil to 1.9GW, the manufacturer claimed.

Prior to the order for Lagoa dos Ventos, Nordex had 195MW under construction in Brazil, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly, with just over 1.1GW is already online.

All of the online projects use Acciona Windpower turbines, following the acquisition by Nordex in the April 2016 merger deal.
