Under the deal SGRE will deliver 136 3.4MW turbines with 132-metre rotors to the Santa Luzia complex in northeast Brazil.

The cluster of projects is being developed by Neoenergia, a subsidiary of Spainish energy giant Iberdrola, which, in turn, holds an 8% stake in SGRE.

SGRE said the order is the largest it has received in Brazil to date.

The machines will be made at SGRE’s factory in Camaçari, east Brazil. SGRE claims a 24% market share in Brazil, making it the second largest turbine OEM in the country.

Voltalia

French developer Voltalia has also announced the start of construction of the 163MW Ventos da Serra do Mel project in Brazil.

It is also set to use SGRE's 3.465MW turbine with the 132-metre rotor and is due online by 2020. The site was successful in Brazil's power procurement round in December 2017.
