Nordex will manufacture 41 AW125 3MW turbines for utility Furnas’ Fortim project in Ceara state.

Furnas is a subsidiary of Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras (Eletrobras) – one of the largest utilities in Latin America.

Nordex said the nacelles and towers will be made at its sites in Brazil. In The turbines will be installed on 120-metre towers in 2019.

The deal also includes a service deal of "at least" five years.

According to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly, Nordex Group has supplied machines for just under 1GW of operating capacity in Brazil. It also has a little over 300MW under construction.

All of these online projects use Acciona Windpower models, which were acquired by Nordex in the April 2016 merger deal.
