The manufacturer will provide its V136-3.45MW turbines delivered with an optimised output of 3.8MW for utility Pampa Energia’s De La Bahía and Pampa projects, which both have a total capacity of 53MW.
It plans to deliver the turbines in the last quarter of 2018 and expects to commission the sites in the first quarter of 2019.
Vestas will also service the turbines for 20 years, the company added.
Pampa Energia had previously contracted Vestas to supply turbines for the 100MW Corti wind farm in Buenos Aires province. That project is to be inaugurated on 22 May, Vestas stated.
The latest order, for a total of 106MW, follows Vestas’ announcement in March that it will build a hub and nacelle assembly facility in Buenos Aires.
Andreés Gismondi, sales director of Vestas Argentina, said that the company has close to 1GW of wind capacity either installed or under construction in Argentina, and received orders for nearly 600MW in the South American country last year.
