Developer Alliant Energy has specified GE’s newly introduced 2.5-127 turbine for the 170MW English Farms and 300MW Upland Prairie wind projects.

Upland Prairie, with 121 turbines planned, is the largest wind project Alliant Energy has yet developed. Commissioning is scheduled for early 2019.

GE also announced that it had reached over 40GW of onshore wind in North America, with 38GW in the US.

"We’re bullish on the future of wind in North America and look forward to continuing to provide customers with state-of-the-art technology and service offerings," said Pete McCabe, president and CEO of GE’s onshore wind business.

The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is holding its Windpower 2018 conference and exhibition in Chicago (7-10 May). Windpower Monthly will bring all of the coverage from the show across the week. www.windpowermonthly.com/awea-2018
