Sale replaces David Halligan, who left the company last week to launch a new renewable energy venture focused on distributed and digital energy solutions.

Prior to the merger of Siemens and Gamesa, Sale had been vice president of sales at Siemens Wind Power Americas.

Sale described Goldwind’s permanent-magnet direct-drive (PMDD) technology as "market leading", and the company as having a "best-in-class product portfolio". He added: "I cannot imagine a more important and exciting time to join Goldwind.

"Goldwind is well-positioned to capture an even greater market opportunity in North America and on a global scale."

Tony Pan, CEO of Goldwind International Holdings added: "He brings a wealth of knowledge rooted in wind technology expansion in the North American market, and we are pleased to welcome him to the growing Goldwind Americas team in Chicago.

"He will be an invaluable asset in furthering Goldwind’s industry-leading technology and brand presence throughout the global wind market."
