It will supply 13 of its V136-3.45MW turbines for Winchai’s 45MW Rom Klao project, oversee their installation, and provide operation and maintenance services (O&M) for 10 years.
The V136-3.45MW turbines will have hub heights of 162 metres, five metres higher than the 157-metre towers specified for a 60-turbine order in the region last August, for which it made the same claim.
GE is due to supply 90 of its 3.0-137 turbines, which have towers 156.5 metres tall, to three projects in Thailand. It stated they are the tallest it will have installed outside of Europe.
Meanwhile, Siemens Gamesa has installed 33 units from its G114 model in Thailand, which have 153-metre towers. It claims the turbines’ 210-metre tip height makes them the tallest onshore wind turbines in Asia.
Vestas' 13 V136-3.45MW turbines are due to be delivered to Winchai at the end of 2018, and commissioned in the second quarter of 2019.

Thailand has a renewable energy target of 40% by 2036.
It currently has 293MW of installed wind power capacity, according to Windpower Intelligence, the research and data division of Windpower Monthly.
